Ah, Super Bowl Sunday: the only sporting event where people timed their bathroom breaks to not miss the commercials. This year, a 30-second ad sold for about $10 million. While a startup could’ve blown its whole Series A on that amount, it was couch-cushion change for companies with big valuations.
The company that got the most attention for its Super Bowl strategy — including a Wall Street Journal writeup — was Anthropic, which had just launched enterprise-focused Claude Opus 4.6 that week to rave reviews. It had already released its ad, which generated flame emojis online for poking fun at OpenAI. Sam Altman called it “deceptive.” OpenAI, which launched GPT-5.3-Codex that week, also ran its own ad.

Slack got the king of viral content, Mr. Beast, to do a couple of spots.
Squarespace, the website builder for people who don’t professionally build websites, convinced two-time Oscar winner Emma Stone to star in its ad.
Amazon Alexa+ showed off its AI chops with professional action star Chris Hemsworth.
Google Gemini, which launched Agentic Vision at the end of January, skipped the celebrities and tugged at heartstrings in its ad.
Artlist AI, a platform for making videos that taps into licensed music, sound effects, and other assets, tried to show you don’t need a big production budget to make a good commercial.
Rippling, an HR/IT/payroll management platform, had cringe comedian Tim Robinson doing a spot.
Genspark AI, a reimagined search engine that recently launched version 2.0 of its AI Workspace, aired a Ferris Bueller-inspired commercial.

What do you trust AI with?
Nika started a thread asking where people draw the line with AI agents. She says she is happy to delegate some work, but there is no way she is handing over full access to money, sensitive health data, or private conversations, especially now that you see stories about agents buying tools and courses on their own.
The thread is basically a gut check on boundaries. What would you never give an agent access to, what feels fine, and how are people thinking about “least privilege” and stop points before an AI can do something you cannot undo.
